The Hide a Key, a Must If Traveling Away From Home

As Summer 2010 is in full swing millions of American's are hitting the road or hopping a flight for a week or two of quality r and r. The hotel and travel reservations are booked, the itinerary has been carefully planned and someone has been assigned the task of watering the garden and feeding the dog while you are away. Everything is set, except one thing... the hide a key.

The excitement and stress of preparing for a much anticipated trip often guarantees at least one item is will be forgotten. A toothbrush, pajamas and if you are relying on someone to take you to and from the airport, your house key's can easily become the victim of an absent mind. As you don't need your keys while away from the house most people won't even give it a second thought. Exhausted and sunburned you return from your trip in the wee hours of the morning, the red eye sounded good at the time you booked the flight, and just as the airport shuttle departs into the darkness you realize you have no way back inside! Maybe you'll be lucky and the house sitter forgot to lock up or maybe you can squeeze through the cat door? Through the uncovered window you can see the comfort of your bed calling you to come inside and go to sleep, it's within your sight but you can't get to it. Meanwhile the cat is crying at the window and your overly tired 5 year old is screaming. If only you had made a spare key and hidden it this won't have happened you think to yourself. Calling the emergency locksmith to come to your rescue you are told that help is 30 to 60 minutes away.

Situations like this happen all the time. With 70,000 flights commercial flights each year, chances are thousands have or will at one time in their lives forget their keys while traveling. Hiding a spare key outdoors if only for the time you are away from home is inexpensive insurance that you will not become locked out of your home. Even if you leave your house key with a neighbor or relative a spare key hidden securely outdoors is essential for those times when Murphy's Law is bound to wreck havoc on your best laid plans.

Passport Name Change - How to Do it Successfully

You will need to get a passport name change if you have gone through a legal name change. How you will go about this will depend on a few different factors. One of these is the date of issue of your current passport. Your situation will dictate whether or not you need to pay a fee as well as whether you can mail in the application.

If the issue date of your current passport is less than a year ago and your name has been changed legally through marriage or a court order, your passport will be reissued without a fee. The passport in your former name, along with a certified copy or original of the proof of name change and the application must be mailed in together. You also need to include two photos which are no more than 6 months old.

If your existing passport in your old name was issued more than one year ago, an alternative form must be used. It too can be mailed if you have the legal proof of your name change. However, in this case, you must also send in a fee along with the legal proof and the recent photos.

If you are unable to supply legal proof of your change in name, you must make your application in person. This situation is treated similarly to applying for a new passport. You will be required to show at least three forms of public records which detail your assumed name along with your birth place and date. They must show use of the name for at least five years.

Children who are less than 16 years old also need to apply for their passport in person and the same documentation must be submitted. The parents or the guardians of the minor need to go along as well. In addition to the other documents, they must provide legal proof of their relationship to the child. Take a look at the other requirements for child passports so that you arrive at the agency with all the information you need.

Receiving your new passport can take four to six weeks or, at times, as many as ten. If you have to have it before then, you may want to have your application expedited. If you choose to do this, you will need to submit an extra fee for the rush service. It is possible to request this with any application for a passport.

It still can take between 2 to 3 weeks for an expedited passport to reach you. If you are in an emergency situation requiring your revised passport faster, you will have to call the National Passport Information Center for a special appointment. Alternatively, you can use a passport expediting service to speed up your name change.

If you are mailing your application for a US passport name change, make sure that all your documentation is packaged securely. It is also best if you send it so that it can be traced. Rather than waiting until you have travel plans, do yourself a favor and send in the passport application form as soon as you actually change your name.

Honeymoon Planning - Making Lasting Memories

For every soon-to-be wife, there is always something that they look forward to other than the exchanges of "I do" and all the kissing. The night following the wedding might just be one of the most exciting, most memorable nights of the couple's married life. This night is called the honeymoon night and to be able to achieve an unforgettable honeymoon, appropriate honeymoon planning is necessary.

Planning where to go on your honeymoon is just as grueling as the wedding preparations. There are a lot of things that need to be considered. To make it easier for you, here are some factors that you should think of when planning your honeymoon.

Just like your wedding preparations, you need to consider your budget when doing your honeymoon planning. Do you have enough budget to go out of the country or not? Sometimes, however, if the couple really wants to go somewhere different at the cheapest price, a little research will be able to help to. Log on to various travel websites to get an idea on how much the possible expense will be for a specific destination.

As soon as you have settled on a budget, your personal interests will now help you in deciding where you should go for the honeymoon. What do you, as a couple, like doing? If you love adventure, find a destination that has modern amenities for various adventures, most especially if your type of adventure is kind of extreme.

Usually, the current weather in the couple's hometown dictates where the couple will go for their honeymoon. If you live in New Jersey and your wedding falls on a winter month, going somewhere warmer such as the beach will be a good choice. The opposite applies for couples who live somewhere warmer. For most couples, the weather and the budget are what normally do a lot of the honeymoon planning for them.

Now that you know how much you will be spending, your personal preferences, and the ideal climate in the honeymoon destination, the only thing left in your honeymoon planning is actually pinpointing a specific destination. Common honeymoon destinations includes such beautiful locations as France and Italy, but you can also wander in a different direction and visit less popular but equally romantic places such as Brazil instead of Mexico and Boracay instead of Phuket. Not only will you get to enjoy almost the same activities, you will do so in a less crowded place.

Planning a perfect honeymoon may sound intimidating but the truth is, with a little help from internet research, finding the perfect honeymoon destination is much easier than you would think. With websites that are dedicated to travel and honeymoon planning, you will never run out if ideas from luxurious vacations to cheap backpacker packages. All it takes is a little bit of patience and some time in front of your computer and in no time, everything will fall into place. Remember that if your honeymoon is the first night you will be spending as a married couple, make it fun-filled so the memories will last a lifetime.

Garden Trail Preparation and Maintenance

Adding a garden trail to a yard can really beautify an already landscaped yard or it can be a wonderful focal point to build around. Everyone has an opinion as to what kind of material should be used in constructing a trail or walkway. The choice of material is strictly up to the individual but be careful; the key to a long lasting path is really in the preparation of the space.

Obviously locating a space for the trail is one of the first things to do. Take as much time as needed on this step. Once the area has begun to be prepped starting over in a new spot can be a frustrating proposition. A suggestion is to get a can of marker spray paint, available at any hardware store, and mark the outline of the trail. Take a few days with the space marked, if you are comfortable with it then proceed to digging out the area.

The digging depth needs to be determined at the beginning of the project. After you choose your surface material you will need to add the underlayment depth. Sandy soils drain quicker than clay soils so you will need to add less sand or drainage rock to the ground prior to laying your trail. An overlooked step to the ground preparation is the soil compaction. If the ground is not as flat or compacted as possible it is likely that the trail will appear uneven and could even be a tripping hazard. Check around for a local equipment rental company and rent a taper for a day to get a solid underlayment for the trail.

The time to dig out the trail will vary on the size and the native soil conditions. If the soil is sandy digging can be quick and relatively effortless. Homeowners with clay soil will need a little bit longer as their soil is less cooperative especially in the dry summer months.

If bricks or pavers are being used make sure a weed block is installed on top of the dirt. It is also recommended to sweep sand into the cracks between the bricks. This will help in keeping any weeds at bay.

For concrete poured paths don't forget to add control joints. These are 1/2" grooves scoured into the concrete. A rule of thumb is to have one no further than the width of the walkway. Example, a four foot wide walk should have a joint every four feet.

These steps will help create a trail to enjoy for many years.

Autumn is a time of leaves changing and the weather changing. Definitely pack appropriately.
